I had an incredible time during my Auodad hunt with the gentlemen at Apex Project USA. The backcountry we were in was beautiful and challenging to navigate. The amount of help we had really paid off. Everyone worked together to get this done. During our hunt we navigated the rugged, mountainous terrain of Cloudcroft, New Mexico. Although we didn't see many Auodad throughout the week, we were able to seal the deal with an incredible 651 yard shot on the final morning of our hunt. I'm not going to lie, but my time spent with these men, out in the rugged terrain that we were at, was an absolute blast. It pushed me to my limits, but that didn't matter because we were getting the job done.

Easy to say This hunt was what I consider, "a hunt of a lifetime" spent with men of the highest caliber. I am grateful for this spectacular opportunity. I hope that my fellow brothers and sisters in arms can be blessed with such an amazing opportunity. This hunt means so much to me, it exposed me to a style of hunting that I've never known. It helped me realize what I need to train and set a fire inside me to get back into the wild. Exploring and going on adventures is one of my favorite things to do in life, now I am prepared to do so because of this hunt. I really appreciate this opportunity more than I could ever explain. I was fortunate enough to go on a South Texas Whitetail hunt with Apex Project. Prior to showing up, I'd never spoken to Kyle except a through a couple of text messages regarding travel. Luckily for me, I was going with my good friend Darin who knew Kyle. I really didn't know what to expect being that I've always had to fund and plan my own experiences. So, sitting back stress free and allowing someone to cover everything from food, lodging, transportation, and tags was a completely different experience for me.

The generosity and organization of Kyle and the support from Apex Project and Origin not only provided me with a stress-free and fully immersive hunting experience but also introduced a new dimension of camaraderie and personal growth through shared our experiences in the outdoors. I would like to thank Kyle for investing in experiences that enrich people's lives. The Elk Hunt with Apex Project was an incredible experience that kicked off my hunting journey. Having never hunted elk or any big game, this was a new challenge and I am grateful for the team who guided and taught me the in’s and out’s throughout the hunt.

The drive to the cabin through New Mexico set the tone that we were kicking off the hunt. Beautiful drive through Cloudcroft, a great cabin on the edge of the unit over looking the hunting area and as far as you can possibly see. Calling this cabin peaceful would be an serious understatement. Everything you need to me comfortable, but sparse enough to feel the wild. The team was great, and taught me how to hunt elk. I learned about glassing, where elk typically traverse everyday, how to harvest the elk, and how the hunting industry generally works (regarding tags, weapons, harvesting, and guide services). Extremely professional and experienced. I feel like I left with a major boost to my hunting toolkit, and some great new friends that I trust because a hell of a shared experience.

This was an incredibly well executed experience that started as a training exercise and ended with the successful completion of a mission that made me reminisce about the great parts of the Army. It also gave me a new challenging life skill that I can continue to hone for many years to come. Can’t wait to lay out my new Elk rug, and I’ll be eating the elk meat I have in my freezer for the next year. Thank you Apex Team!
